| Hooray for Willie's Wonky Chocolate Factory! |

How often does a TV series end with someone running down the road in Tiverton cheering and taking his clothes off?! I would love to know what the man from Waitrose says next time he phones to place an order! So Willie and Tania have pulled it off - thank *$"£$ for that! And we have some all important answers too (in the last 10 minutes, as usual for a TV show):
I had to laugh when the show started off with something like 'The euphoria of the perfect harvest in Venezuela had to face the grim reality of Tiverton' (ok it wasn't that exactly... but if he can bring a bit of fabulous looking Venezuela to Devon, hats off to him!) The show continued with him working all hours to get 3000 bars to Selfridges for a kind of trial run / product demonstration, and again there were some classic moments with the kids fighting in the back of the car on the way to Selfridges (hooray for the best, most normal kids I've seen on TV in years) Personally I wasn't at all surprised that so many people were buying all three kinds of the cocoa bars: they are a perfect size and appearance for a gourmet foodie gift, and if there are only three kinds, it's hard to resist buying all three, or at least two as a comparison. (Having said that, they were very cagey throughout the show about what the actual price was, other than 'expensive' - perhaps it hadn't been set at that point). The final show also featured more of Willie's chocolate recipes: a chicken with mole that looked very tasty and much easier to make than the one I once tried (Mexican Chicken with vegetarian Mole sauce) , and some yummy looking chocolate biscuits for a day out to Longleat (I was amazed when he didn't start feeding chocolate bananas or something to the monkeys!) It was interesting for me to see that even the professionals can have problems with tempering too: I had trouble with chocolate hearts blooming just as I needed them for my brother's wedding cake , and Willie had the same trouble, but with 600 bars of his chocolate - nightmare! I'm still keen to try out his hot chocolate drinks, Aztec or otherwise. I think there's a Waitrose out near the Donkey Sanctuary, so we might head out there one weekend soon: if we find Willie's chocolate, expect a review! |
