Fairtrade chocolate hearts
I've always thought there was something so romantic about chocolate hearts, and every Valentine's Day I would secretly hope to get one. So when the Co-op started selling this little set of six Fairtrade chocolate hearts,  I was keen to try them and dropped some massive hints.

Finally, on Valentine's Day they appeared (thanks!) and stayed for a couple of days, then disappeared :)

So what are they like? They aren't quite the same as the chocolates in a box: the chocolate on the outside is harder, which probably helps them keep a smart appearance in their see through box. The dark chocolate hearts are truffly inside, and just on the border between perfect and a bit too dark (for me, but strangely not the kids!) The milk chocolate hearts have got the same type of caramel inside that you find in a Mars bar, and I slightly preferred them, though the contrasting combination was best of all - it's lovely to have the choice!

I'd give them a definite thumbs up: they're a small and inexpensive gift but a very welcome and romantic one. It's also the perfect amount: six chocolate hearts is just enough to stop you eating them all in one go (which I might have done with four!) - instead, you can maybe eat one of each kind, put them aside, come back to them later, etc etc

The one thing I wasn't convinced about was the packing: the transparency is good, because let's face it, we always want to see chocolate hearts. But although I'm a big fan of Fairtrade, and try to choose Fairtrade products whenever I can, in this case, the Fairtrade packaging gives it something of a 'plain wrap' image. The size and shape of the packaging look like they're designed for an extra gift with roses, but I'd say these chocolate hearts are also a nice enough gift on their own.
