How to Make Chocolate Ice Cream
 
Cool, delicious chocolate ice cream with a hint of cinnamon. This recipe was created long ago but should still suit modern tastes.

Chocolate Ice Cream: make your own!

Ingredients

  • 1 quart cream
  • 1 pint milk, use whole milk for extra richness
  • 1/2 pound of sugar
  • 4 ounces of chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla or 1/4 of a vanilla bean
  • 1/4 of a teaspoon cinnamon

Steps

  1. Grate the chocolate.
  2. Place the grated chocolate into a double boiler.
  3. Add the milk.
  4. Mix and cook until hot.
  5. Add 1 pint cream, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon to mixture in double boiler.
  6. Chill.
  7. Freeze in ice cream maker.
  8. Whip remaining pint of cream until stiff.
  9. Remove dasher from ice cream maker.
  10. Fold in whipped cream.
  11. Freeze until ready to serve.
  12. Serves about 10 people.
